Burning Fish Liver to Defeat the Devil? A Critical Look at the Book of Tobit

When we open one of the Deuterocanonical books, which Orthodox and Catholic Christians believe to be divinely inspired and part of the Holy Bible, we are surprised to find many stories that defy reason.

For example, in the Book of Book of Tobit, chapter 6, verse 19, the angel Raphael instructs that if the liver of a fish is burned on the wedding night, the devil will be driven away by the smell of the smoke and will not be able to kill the bridegroom.

Is it reasonable that the devil would be defeated merely by roasting a liver? Why do priests not apply such teachings in churches? Or are they afraid that churches would turn into restaurants?

My Christian friend, leave behind the myths of the Bible and embrace Islam, for Islam is the path of truth and happiness.
